Seeking collaborative child care provider for 3 young children

17$
Care for 3 children (current ages are 10 months, 14 months, and 20 months). The children are from separate families, but all live in the same small housing complex with a shared courtyard.

Families are vaccinated and follow public health recommendations. Many of the parents work from home most/all of the time. Although care of three young children is very demanding, at least one parent will be available on site at all times to assist as needed.

We are looking for a care provider who is playful, caring, collaborative, creative, and enjoys the outdoors. We would like to work with the care provider to determine what a typical week would look like. Activities should include:
● Outdoor time at least twice a day, regardless of weather
● Music, art, crafts, dancing and/or other creative activities during the week
● Reading / story time

The goal is to create a safe, caring environment where children have the opportunity to develop physically, socially, cognitively and emotionally, as well as learn about diversity through a multicultural and anti-bias lens.

Hours: 8:00am-4:30pm Monday-Friday, except stat holidays
Location: Saskatoon (Radiance Cohousing, 475 Ave L South)
Start date: Anticipated start date November 2021
Term: 3 months
**These arrangements are flexible – we’re open to discussing modifications.

● One of the houses will be a consistent ‘homebase’; where all children will be cared for.
● We have a shared courtyard that is set up well for children, with an average amount of supervision (e.g. around stairs, boulders, etc.).
● There will always be at least one parent at the housing complex that can be called on for help if necessary.
● One parent will be available for approx. 1-1.5 hrs on most days to accompany the care provider for any excursions that leave the property (e.g. on walks, to the park, etc.).
● Parents will prep most food (meals and snacks) and will usually be available to help for 30-45 mins at lunch time.
● Each child will be put down for naps in their own households. Most of the time parents will be available to help with nap time. The hired care provider will not be responsible for more than one child/household during nap time.
● There may be times during the week when you will only be caring for 1 or 2 children (e.g. grandparents will pick up their grandchildren from time to time, or parents may have a day off or scheduled activities such as swimming lessons with their child).
● Parents can assist with diaper changes or preparing children for outdoor activities if necessary.
● Supplies (e.g. music, art, outdoors, etc.) can be provided by the families upon request.
● We would like to develop an agreed-upon approach with the care provider for cases when a child(ren), parent, or the care provider gets sick.

Requirements (proof will be required upon offer of employment):
● CPR, first aid
● Up to date vaccines, including the annual flu shot and double covid vaccine
● Follows public health requirements and guidelines
● Current Criminal Record Check (CRC) and Vulnerable Sector Search (VSS) (Fee reimbursed after 1 month of work)

Assets:
● Experience/training in early childhood education
● Parenting or other significant childcare experience
● Class 5 Saskatchewan Driver’s License (we may also request a current abstract from SGI demonstrating a safe driving record)
